- The aim is the put together a hand that is as close to 9 points as possible.
- The cards are worth the following amounts: Ace = 1, 2 through 9 = their value, face cards and 10 = 0.
- If a hand is worth more than 10 then the ten digit is dropped to work out their final value, for example a hand consisting of 7 and 5 is worth 2 (7 + 5 = 12 take away the ten digit = 2).
- Each player is dealt two cards; a third card can only be dealt according to the Third Card Rules (see below). 6 decks of cards are used and they are all shuffled before each round and dealt from a shoe.
- The player whose hand is closest in value to 9 points wins the round.
- If a player bets on the player and then wins they are awarded 2:1 in winnings.
- If a player bets on the banker and the banker wins the player is awarded 2:1 in winning but must pay a 5% commission to the casino.
- If the “player” and “banker” tie then bets are returned, unless the player bet on the outcome being a tie in which case they are awarded a payout of 9:1.
